Movie Review Pride and Prejudice This movie is about the story that is written down in the same named book first published 1813 from the author Jane  Austen. The story both the movie and the book relate is about Elizabeth Bennet (Keira Knightley) in the leading role and her way to love. “The business of her life was to get her daughter married.” That is all what Mrs. Bennet wants for her five daughters. And this is it what marriage was 200 years ago: a business. The factors which influenced if you had have a good chance to find a partner for life, were the high of the rank and the amount of money you earn. “It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife.” This famous sentence out of the book of Austen represent the whole story. The movie start with some good news, the Bennet’s heard about their new neighbour Mr. Bingley (Simon Woods). A man of rank and a little amount of money that he earns without ...

Reflection At what moment during the last 9 weeks did you feel most engaged with what was happening? I felt most engaged especial at the start. I was looking forward to read the book and everything. At what moment during the last 9 weeks were you most distanced from what was happening? At the end. I was a little bit frustrated because of the book. It was a little bit too hard to read it in this time with everything else, which I had to do for school.  What action that anyone took in these last 9 weeks did you find most affirming or helpful? That we did  little bit more grammar for the second test. What action that anyone took in these last 9 weeks did you find most puzzling or confusing? What about the class in these las 9 weeks surprised you the most? I was sometimes confused about what I had to do for the action plan, because I read the instructions at the beginning, but I forgot some things about it and stuff. I liked the action plan mostly. I j...
Recount – summary of what happened in the plot   The well-known book “Pride and Prejudice” tells about the love story of Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy, which took a long way to her start. The main things which mad the love a long way to start were things like prejudice and rash conclusions. But also things like a planned marriage of Mr. Darcy and a nice of Lady Catherine were obstacles which were to overcome. «It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife. » I think, this sentence represents the whole story very good. Marriage in this time was kind of a business. And Jane Austen tells this facts with a lot of exaggeration and irony. So, the plot is about a love story between different couples, not only Eliza and Mr. Darcy, but also Eliza’s older, Jane and Mr. Bingley and another sister of Eliza, Lydia and Mr. Wickham. But it retells also how the higher society of this time functioned. In my...
Movie Review (Step one and two) step one The hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug December 13, 2013   Sheila O'Malley "Fantasy (in this sense) is, I think, not a lower but a higher form of Art, indeed the most nearly pure form, and so (when achieved) the most potent." - J.R.R. Tolkien, March 8, 1939 lecture "Fairy Stories" Tolkien's parenthetical "when achieved" is the kicker of that statement, the acknowledgement of how difficult and rare successful fantasy really is. You know it when you see it. This reviewer did not find that quality in "An Unexpected Journey", the first installment of Peter Jackson's gigantic trilogy based on Tolkien's slim one-volume classic "The Hobbit," but it is there in spades in part two, "The Desolation of Smaug." This middle chapter is about a half-hour too long, and the final third splits the story up into three pieces, weakening the narrative thrust that had been building,...

Prediction – How will a certain character change? How will Mr. Darcy change until the end of the story? The first description about Mr. Darcy which I read was “[…] but his (Mr. Bingley’s) friend Mr. Darcy soon drew the attention of the room by his fine, tall person, handsome features, noble mien […]”. Soon after this description came this: “His character was decided. He was the proudest, most disagreeable man in the world, and everybody hoped that he would never come there again.” Pride and prejudice, a very fitting title. Well, much of the meanings about this person were determined through prejudice. But he seems arrogant and full of pride and I think he isn’t aware about this. Well, I think it’s possible that we become an insight in his feelings and his previous life. And we will understand why he acts how he acts. Maybe it’s all just about prejudice, there often has to be a little bit more information just to understand why people think what they think and why the...
Empathy - Diary Entry of Eliza Dear diary, Now, I know it. Dear Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy loves me. Charlotte already knew it, she said it after this awkward conversation with Mr. Darcy. “In vain I struggled. It will not do. My feelings will not be repressed. You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you.” This was his words. Well, after he said this, he requested for my hand in marriage. Certainly, I said no! I have every reason to think ill of this person! And this was, what I said to him. I too confronted him with the sabotated romance between my sister Jane and Mr. Bingley. He didn’t deny that separated this couple. And too, it is true, what Mr. Wickham told me about Mr. Darcy. Such a horrible person! He destroyed the luck of three people without any scruple. I hope, I will never see this horrible person again! 157 Words
